WEEKLY DIGEST
This week on The Science and Experience of Energy, we explored the ambitious journey to map the mind-mitochondria connection.
The first piece expands our understanding of mitochondria from simple “powerhouses” to dynamic information processors, introducing a holistic research platform that connects molecular signals like GDF15 and FGF21 to the subjective human experience—including how we respond to stress.
In the second, we dive into the thread of how discoveries, challenges, and key decision points converged to form the MiSBIE study. It details how a “startup” investment and a sense of urgency fueled a mission to test whether mitochondria orchestrate the human stress response, and perhaps resilience.
Across scales, a common theme emerges: integration. From organelle to organism. From cell to society.
MiSBIE is about connecting energy and emotions. Biology and the lived human experience. Understanding our energetic nature is the first step toward building a true science of healing.
Our third piece is a reflection on the importance of taking a break from always doing things to give yourself a chance to “be”. This is particularly meaningful for us we travel to Nepal where we will continue exploring this idea, ourselves, and the role of energy in our lives. We’ll be offline next week, but we are excited to share more when we return!
We hope you enjoy these pieces. Thank you for joining our community.
